A pack-status can be marked as in one of the following states:
State | Definition |
Active | The pack is available to be supplied to a member of the public. |
Supplied | A pack bearing this identifier has been marked as supplied to a member of the public. The identifier has been decommissioned but may be reactivated from the same location within 10 days. NB. To support the partial supply of pack content, multiple requests may be made to supply the same pack, as long as the requests are made from the same location and the number of requests does not exceed a threshold set at the market level. |
Expired | The batch containing the pack identifier has passed its expiry date. The identifier has been decommissioned permanently. |
Withdrawn | The product has been withdrawn from the market. The identifier has been decommissioned permanently. |
Recalled | The batch containing the pack identifier has been recalled. The identifier has been decommissioned permanently. |
Locked | A pack bearing this identifier has been temporarily decommissioned pending further investigation or action. The identifier may be reactivated from the same location within 10 days. |
Destroyed | A pack bearing this identifier has been marked for destruction. The identifier has been decommissioned permanently. |
Stolen | A pack bearing this identifier has been marked as stolen. The identifier has been decommissioned permanently. |
Exported | A pack bearing this identifier has been marked as exported from the EU/EEA/Switzerland. The identifier has been decommissioned but may be reactivated from the same location within 10 days. |
Sample (NCA) | A pack bearing this identifier has been provided as a sample to a national competent authority (NCA). The identifier has been decommissioned but may be reactivated from the same location within 10 days. |
Free Sample | A pack bearing this identifier has been provided as a free (commercial) sample. The identifier has been decommissioned but may be reactivated from the same location within 10 days. |
Checked-out | A pack bearing this identifier has been re-packaged by a parallel distributor. The identifier has been decommissioned permanently. |

Depending on the type of the location (such as wholesaler or pharmacy), the user can only mark the pack-status as having a state for which they are authorised. For example, a pharmacy may not mark a product as Exported or Checked-out.
Some changes in pack status are reversible. For example, a product marked as Supplied may be reset to Active. This must be done at the same location where it was originally marked as Supplied and within 10 days. The 10-day timer starts at the time the pack is marked as Supplied, so if it is marked as Supplied at 10.00, it will have to be recommissioned before 10.00 on the tenth day. (Source: IMVO)
Other changes in pack status are not reversible, such as Checked Out and Marked for Destruction, so great care must be taken when packs are to be so marked. To minimise the risk of making an error in this regard, ezFMD has a customisable set of User Roles, so that a particular user can have their options restricted. See User Roles.
