ezFMD requires the following:
- A version of Microsoft Windows currently supported (as of 2025: Windows 10 and Windows 11)
- An Intel/AMD PC with minimum 2Gb of RAM and an available USB port
- A (broadband) Internet connection with a minimum access to the ports described in the firewall document
- A suitable dedicated scanner – see Scanner for details of the default scanner used
NB: The PC need not be dedicated to the use of ezFMD – it can co-reside with other applications but where these other applications are extensive, additional RAM is highly recommended.
